Leh was the capital of the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh, now the Leh District in the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. Ladakh is a region of India in the state of Jammu and Kashmir that lies between the Kunlun mountain range in the north and the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. Ladakh with the area of 95,000 square kilometers has one of the lowest population densities in the world, with 2 inhabitants per square kilometer. An old Ladakhi saying: The passes are so high and land so barren; only a dear friend or a serious enemy will reach here.

This land has for the longest time, has been known for its beauty. One can opt for various routes and means to explore Leh- ladakh. The best way to explore this terrain is by driving through Manali to Leh. Manali to Leh – Once restricted route, is now one of the most exciting drive which takes you across high Himalayan passes. This gives one the perfect chance to witness the mountains, culture, forests and adventure of the region. Those who want to reach leh directly can fly from Delhi, only to land in Leh and start exploring. Once at Leh,

one can understand the culture by visiting monasteries and monks. For photographers, the brilliant landscapes give the perfect photographic opportunities.

Day 1: 3/7/20:

Delhi- Leh

Land in Leh. Proceed to Homestay. Lunch.

Late afternoon step out to explore Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and Leh Bazaar.

 

Day 2: 4/7/20:

Leh- Lamayuru Monastery

Acclimatization Day. Drive to Lamayuru Monastery.

Enroute visit Scorpoche Nimu Sangam (18kms). Visit Hall of Fame & Pathar Sahib Gurudwara.

Back to Leh for stay.

 

Day 3: 5/7/20:

Leh- Pangong

Today drive over the Chang La Pass (5183m.) to the Pangong Lake and stay overnight at Pangong Lake. Stay at Pangong Lake.

 

Day 4: 6/7/20:

Pangong- Leh

After breakfast, drive back to Leh. Enroute visit Hemis Monastery that is one of the richest Gompa in this region and Thickshey Monastery. Afternoon roam around the market/ relax. Stay at Leh.

 

Day: 5: 7/7/20:

Leh – Diskit/Hunder

Drive from Leh to the Nubra Valley (Ldomra or the Valley of Flowers) over the Khardung La pass (5606 Mts.), the highest motorable road in the world. Enjoy a double hump camel ride on the sand dunes of Hunder. The camels date back to the Silk Route days. Enjoy fascinating views of Karakoram Mountain range. Overnight at Diskit.

 

Day 6: 8/7/20:

Nubra-Sumoor-Panamic

Drive to Panamic to see the hot water springs. Back to Sumoor for lunch.

Visit Sumoor Monastery.

Spend the evening at Sumoor Sand Dunes.

Night at Nubra.

 

Day 7: 9/7/20:

Nubra- Turtuk

Day visit to Turtuk, one of the Northern most villages in India. Turtuk is the last Indian outpost before Pakistan in Ladakh and the Northernmost villages in India. Lying on the banks of Shyok River, it is a very secluded, military-dominated, and sensitive area, as merely ten kilometers ahead is the border or line of control between India and Pakistan.

Back to Nubra for stay.

 

Day 8: 10/7/20:

Nubra-Leh

Drive back to Leh.

Evening in Leh Bazaar.

 

Day 9: 11/7/20:

Leh- Delhi

Fly Leh -New Delhi.
